Harry Owen

Harry James Owen, 87, of Chester, passed away on Saturday, January 4, 2014 at McGuire VA Medical Center. Born in Dinwiddie County on January 21, 1926, he was the son of the late Oscar O. and Jennie Davis Owen, and the widower of Annie Thacker Owen. Mr. Owen was a United States Army veteran. He is survived by a daughter, Peggy O. Meadows and husband, Robert of Chester; two sons, H. Wayne Owen and wife, Judith of Chester and Ricky James Owen and wife, Debbie of Chesterfield; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one-great-great-grandson; and one brother, Tom Owen and wife, Thelma of Dinwiddie. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 8, 2014 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard with Pastor Neil Wheeler officiating. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2:00 p.m. Wednesday prior to the service at the funeral home.
