Harry Skeens Sr.

Harry B. Skeens Sr., 80, of Chester, passed away Saturday, May 4, 2013 at his residence. He was born July 20, 1932 to the late Samuel Jefferson and Mary Fogleman Skeens. Mr. Skeens was a United States Navy Veteran, retiree of Hercules, Inc. and a member of Chester Christian Church. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Skeens, of Chester; sons, Harry B. Skeens Jr. and wife Debbie, of Mechanicsville, Edmond L. Skeens and wife Heather of Raleigh, North Carolina, Gary W. Skeens and wife Lisa of Bristow, Virginia; seven grandchildren; brother, Dale C. Skeens of Dublin, Virginia; sister, Margaret Overbay of Salem, Virginia. A funeral service will be held 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 7, 2013 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory 2033 Boulevard with the Reverend Neil Wheeler, officiating. Interment 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 8, 2013 in the Southwest Veterans Cemetery, 5552 Bagging Plant Road, Dublin, Virginia 24084. The family will receive friends Tuesday one hour prior to the service from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
