Harry Lee Sowers, 58, of Prince George, Virginia passed away on April 7, 2012 after a valiant fight with cancer. Harry was born September 18, 1953 in Franklin, Pennsylvania and was preceded in death by his father, mother, and oldest brother. He was retired from the U.S. Army after serving his country honorably for twenty one years. He was also retired from The Defense Commissary Agency located on Fort Lee, Virginia. Harry was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved driving his 1950 Ford Coupe. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of twenty three years Karin, of Prince George, Virginia originally from Germany. A son Harry Lee Sowers, Jr. of Waupan, Wisconsin, a daughter Kassandra Sbonik of Stevens Point, Wisconsin, a brother Ronald Sowers and his wife Connie from Franklin, Pennsylvania, a sister Donna Clark of Seward, Pennsylvania, eight beautiful granddaughters, two great and irreplaceable friends John T. Hughes and Mickey Fields both of Prince George, Virginia, numerous nieces and nephews and his dog Skeeter. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday April 11, 2012 in the Petersburg Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 3935 S. Crater Road, 23805 with the Reverend Ron Fish officiating. Interment will military honors will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Amelia, 10300 Pridesville Road Amelia, Virginia 23002. The family will receive friends Tuesday April 10, 2012 from 6-8:00 p.m., at the funeral home.
