Helen Butakow

Helen Butakow, age 81, of Colonial Heights, VA, went to be with the Lord on September 11, 2014. She was born May 4, 1933, in Trento, Italy, to the late Dominic and Rosa Petri, as one of six children. She is preceded in death by sister Frieda and brother-in-law Earl Sarvis. She is mourned by her son Alexander and wife Erin of Sarasota, FL; daughter Natalie and partner Mark of Colonial Heights, VA; grandchildren Samantha, Nicholas, and Benjamin; great-grandchildren Shay'Juan and Jacoby; sister Agnes Moar, brother Adolf Petri and wife Carmen of Italy; sister-in-law Lana Petrik of Australia; and numerous nieces and nephews. Helen was a faithful and devoted member of the West End Baptist Church in Petersburg. She cherished her church community and many dear friends and clients. She was a loving mother and grandmother and will be deeply missed. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 20, 2014, in the Southlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum, 1911 Birdsong Road, Prince George, Virginia 23805 with the Reverend Tim Brendle officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Crater Community Hospice, 3916 South Crater Road, Petersburg, VA 23805 or West End Baptist Church's Haiti Fund, 6506 Boydton Plank Road, Petersburg, VA 23803.
