Helen Kerr Heller

October 12, 1924 — July 19, 2024

Sutherland

Helen Kerr Heller, 99, of Sutherland VA, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, July 19, 2024, at her home surrounded by her family. She was a devoted Christian woman who served the Lord faithfully and who loved her family unconditionally.

Helen was born on October 12, 1924, in McCool, MS, to the late Everette Gladney and Alice Priscilla (Gordon) Kerr. She was predeceased by her husband of 51 years, Raymond L. Heller, Sr.; her infant sister, Lorene Kerr; brothers, Gladney Kerr, Haywood Kerr, Robert Kerr and David Kerr; her daughter, Diane Heller Price; and grandson, Garrett Price.

Helen was a charter member of Western Heights Baptist Church where she served the Lord and her church family in many capacities. She was a dedicated Sunday School teacher for over 50 years. As a teacher, she was a true mentor and had tremendous influence over many in their Christian faith. Helen’s love of music led her to further bless her church and community by singing, leading the congregation in praise and directing the choir. Helen is often described by many as an amazing woman and a great ambassador for the Lord.

Helen and her husband Raymond never shied away from an adventure and traveled the world seeing much of the beautiful USA as well as many faraway lands. Together they established the Wagon Wheel Drive-In Restaurant and Helen’s Hearth Gift Shop as another way to serve their community.

Helen is survived by her children, Brenda Heller Olgers (Bobby) of Sutherland, and Raymond L. Heller, Jr. (Vicky) of Sutherland; and her brother Douglas Kerr (Cherry) of Vidor TX.

She is also survived by her grandchildren, Brian Price (Rebecca), Troy Olgers, Lisa Olgers Witt (Ray), Brent Olgers (Kim) and Anna Heller Clark (Matthew); great grandchildren, Ayden Price, Britney Price, Carter Price, Faith Olgers Akins (Michael), Wyatt Olgers (Macy), Bryce Witt, Bailey Witt, Damien Clark and Kellen Clark; and great-great grandchildren, Hudson and Henley Akins. She is also survived by a host of loving nieces and nephews who adored their “Aunt Helen”.

The family would like to express their sincere thanks to Belinda Jean Edwards and numerous other caregivers who assisted in Helen’s care as well as Crater Community Hospice for their compassionate support.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 25, 2024, at Western Heights Baptist Church, 24416 Cox Road, North Dinwiddie, VA 23803. Interment will follow in Blanford Cemetery in Petersburg. The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 24, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. also at Western Heights Baptist Church.
