Helen J Lehsten

Helen J. Lehsten, 86 of Prince George died on Friday, August 23, 2024, after a brief illness. Helen was born in Chesterfield, VA and was the daughter of the late Bernard G. and Estelle E. Jones.

She is survived by her husband, Donald H. Lehsten of 42 years; son, Christopher Carden (Valerie); daughter, Sandra Carden; grandchildren, Joshua and Alyssa Carden; sister, Shirley Hawkins; sister-in-law, Carol Kelly; nieces, Megan Wible (Chris), and Colleen Riggs (Chris); nephews, Jay Kelly (Marci), and Sean Kelly (Lisa); and her beloved dog, "Cody" (who never left her side); along with many other family members.

She never knew a stranger, as she made friends with everyone she met, whether at the grocery store, or on the street. She was a great cook and was known as "The Chicken Lady" because of her outstanding fried chicken she loved to make for the family!

After working in the medical field most of her adult life, she retired from Surgical Specialists of Richmond.

Along with enjoying traveling, she loved going to the Outer Banks, NC, knitting, and being an avid reader.

Helen was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Petersburg, VA.

The family will receive friends Monday, September 9th, 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 151 West Washington St., Petersburg, VA.

Rev. Gino Rossio will be the celebrant at a Mass of Resurrection following the visitation. A burial will follow immediately at Sunset Memorial Park, 2901 West Hundred Road, Chester, VA. The events will be streamed through the E. Alvin Small Funeral Home website.
