Helen Norton Ricks 90, of Colonial Heights, passed away Tuesday January 24, 2012. She was the daughter of the late John Thomas and Blanch French Norton and the widow of Glenn W. Ricks. Mrs. Ricks was a veteran of the United States Women Army Auxiliary Corps. She was a member of Highland United Methodist Church in Colonial Heights, Past Matron of Alpha Chapter 1 Order of Eastern Star in Petersburg, past Royal Matron Colonial Heights Court #10, Order of the Amaranth, past Bethel Guardian Jobs Daughters Bethel #29, American Legion Post 136 Auxiliary in Ettrick, Virginia, Ladies Auxiliary Post 637, in Hopewell. Mrs. Ricks is survived by a son Robert Glenn Ricks of Herndon, daughters Theresa Alma Simpkins and husband Michael R. of Williamsburg, Barbara Ann Pastore and husband Fletcher J. of Chester, Mary E. Roberts and husband Fred. L. of Prince George, grandchildren Mark Simpkins and wife Lorraine of New York, Brenda Martin of Midlothian, Libbie Roberts of Chester, Erin Roberts, of Hopewell, and three great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday January 28, 2012 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Home and Crematory 2033 Boulevard with the Reverend Darwood Rowan officiating. Interment Southlawn Memorial Park Prince George, Virginia. Following the service a reception will be held at the Masonic Temple of Petersburg 115 S. Sycamore Street Petersburg, Virginia 23803. There will be an Order of Amaranth service at 7:00 p.m. Friday, January 27, 2012 at the funeral home with visitation to follow until 8:30 p.m. The family ask for no flowers and donations to be made to the American Diabetes Association Richmond-Petersburg, Office, 4335 Cox Road Glen Allen, Virginia 23060
