Hendrick Paulus Jr., 86, of Chester, passed away Friday January 28, 2011. He was born September 3, 1924 in Salem, Virginia. Mr. Paulus was preceded in death by his parents Hendrick and Louvina Young Saul Paulus, five brothers Emmet Saul, Lucian Saul, Jack Saul, and Jimmy Saul. He was a W.W. II., United States Army Veteran, and was awarded the American Theater Medial, Asiatic Pacific Service Medal, Good Conduct Medial, and the W.W.II., Victory Medal. Mr. Paulus was a regular attendee at Walthall Baptist Church in Colonial Heights. He is survived by his wife Ophelia Paulus, his children Jolene Dell, Patricia Mulkey, Edna Ratliff, grandchildren, Erica Dell, Philip Dell, Jonathan Dell, Ashley Miller, Patricia Milam, Nina Makenney, Jessie Lynch, ten great grandchildren, three sisters, Barbara Zahl and husband Phillip, Jean Hill, Peggy Best, twos brothers, Jerry Paulus and Billy Paulus, special nephews Timothy Wilson and wife Karen and Steven Wilson and wife Diane. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday February 1, 2011 at Walthall Baptist Church 14001 Woods Edge Road Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834 with Pastor George Schutte officiating. Interment Bermuda Memorial Park Enon, Virginia. The family will receive friends Monday January 31, 2011 from 7-8:30 p.m. at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory 2033 Boulevard 23834.
