Henry Joseph Blotkamp, 85, of Chester, passed away on Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at his residence. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, he was the son of the late August H. and Margaret Twiford Blotkamp. He was preceded in death by a brother, John Edward Blotkamp; and a grandson, Kevin Christopher Blotkamp. Mr. Blotkamp was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Anne Blotkamp; daughters, Cecelia Marie Blotkamp of Chesterfield, Margaret Rose O'Behan of Hanover, Pennsylvania, and Elaine Carolyn Godburn of Farmville; sons, Walter Henry Blotkamp of Vienna, Virginia, and Paul Joseph Blotkamp of Gaithersburg, Maryland; eight grandchildren, Kathryn & Megan Reilly, Joseph & Andrew Godburn, Lillian & Stephen Blotkamp, and Rachel & Anna Blotkamp; and one great-grandchild, Madeline Zoey Gilbert. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 1, 2014 at St. Ann Catholic Church, 17111 Jefferson Davis Highway, Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834 with Fr. Lou Ruoff, Celebrant. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Chester. The family will receive friends from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, November 30, 2014 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard and from 10 to 11:00 a.m. Monday prior to the service at St. Ann Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Bread of Life Food Pantry, c/o St. Ann Catholic Church or Crater Community Hospice, 3916 S. Crater Road, Petersburg, Virginia 23805.
