Henry Young

July 11, 1938 — March 16, 2015

Henry Edward Young 76 of Dinwiddie passed away on Monday, March 16, 2015 at his residence. He was the son of the late Dillard and Susie Samford Young. Mr. Young was an avid fisherman and hunter and a big fan of NASCAR. Henry enjoyed cooking and took great pride in his garden. He was known for sharing his vegetables with his family and friends, with the exception of his Butterbeans. Henry was a member of McKenney Hunt Club, retired from Honeywell after 30 years of service. He is survived by two daughters and sons in law, Sheri Young Hamilton and husband Jeff of Colonial Heights and Tracy Y. Koontz and husband Greg of Chesterfield; son Henry E. Young, Jr of Colonial Heights and fiancée Karen Collett; three sisters and husbands, Frances and Otis Brown of Richmond, Elizabeth and Stanley Winfield of Stony Creek and Mary and C. M. Northington of Myrtle Beach, SC; a brother, Lynn Benjamin Young of South Hill, five grandchildren; Jeremy McCarter, Amanda Najdyszak, Matthew Koontz, Kennon Young Ball, Laci Mae Young, and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday March 21, 2015 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard with the Reverend Robert Livesay officiating. Interment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park Prince George, Virginia. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 6 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, March 20, 2015. Condolences may be registered at www.ealvinsmall.com.
