Hershel Criswell

Hershel Howard Criswell, 99 of Carson, passed away Monday, March 14, 2022.  He was born December 16, 1922 in Georgia to the late Oscar and Ethel Floyd Criswell.  Hershel was also preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Margaret Barrett Criswell; son, Hershel Howard Criswell, Jr. “Junior”; and son-in-law, Keith.  Hershel is survived by two sons, David (Brenda) and Howard (Vickie); two daughters, Brenda (Juan) and Cindy; 13 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren; sister, Weda Thompson; and brother, Wendall Coursey.  Hershel was a Navy veteran where he served in WWII.  He was a member of the VFW and a member of City Point Restoration Church.  Hershel retired as a linesman from Dominion Power, where he worked from 1946 to 1982.  He was a loving father, PaPaw, and a lover of God and family.  He will be greatly missed by his family.  The family would like to express their thanks to Intrepid Hospice for their excellent care for their father.  A funeral service will be held 12:00 p.m. Monday, March 21, 2022, at City Point Restoration Church of God, 2300 Bluefield St, Hopewell, VA 23860, with Pastor Thurman Collier officiating.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the church.
