Hollis Allen

H. Ray Allen, 82, of Colonial Heights, passed away on Wednesday, September 30, 2009 at Hopewell Health Care Center. He was the son of the late Willie and Minnie Power Allen. Mr. Allen was a retired veteran in the United States Army having served during World War II, the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He was a member of the Petersburg American Legion Post #2, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles #882. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth J. Allen; three sons, James D. Allen and wife, Debra K. and Robert W. Allen and wife, Ann J. all of Colonial Heights, and Kevin L. Allen and wife, Brigitte of Prince George; a daughter, Margaret A. Howell and husband, R.D. of Danville; a brother, Willie R. Allen of Huntsville, Alabama; ten grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 3, 2009 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard with the Reverend Guy Murdock officiating. Interment Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Flowers are welcome.
