Horace Whitmore

Horace Scott Whitmore, 77, of Colonial Heights, passed away at his home on Saturday, August 25, 2018. He was born to the late Floyd and Martha Whitmore on September 28, 1940. Mr. Whitmore was a member of Colonial Heights Baptist Church and was a retired Superintendent of Streets for the City of Petersburg. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Anne Whitmore Collins, Floyd Gilliam Whitmore Jr., Katherine Whitmore Wray, Henry Beryl Whitmore and Margaret Whitmore Weirup. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Marcia Procise Whitmore; children, Vincent Scott Whitmore (Annette) and Donna Lynne Tuten (Doug); seven grandchildren, Erica, Travis, Ashley, Samantha, Joseph, Reese and Haley; two great-grandchildren, Aubree and Quinn; and a brother, Richard Lee Whitmore (Pat). A visitation will take place on Thursday, August 30, 2018 from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 30, 2018 at 2 p.m. at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Blandford Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the VCU Massey Cancer Center, P.O. Box 843042, Richmond, Virginia 23284.
