Howard Francis Brooks, 79, of Dinwiddie, passed away on Monday, September 1, 2008 at his residence. He was the son of the late Lennie M. Sr. and Emma F. Spain Brooks, and was preceded in death by three brothers, L. Morris Brooks, L. Elwood Brooks, and Richard F. Brooks. Mr. Brooks was a member of Woodlawn Presbyterian Church where he has served as a Deacon for many years. He was a U.S. Army veteran and was a retired electrician with Virginia Power. Mr. Brooks is survived by his wife of 23 years, Anna Brooks; children, Clayton D. Oliver, Jr. and wife, Christa of Dinwiddie, Keith B. Oliver and wife, Melissa of Prince George, and Tamara S. Wilson and husband, Rick of Dinwiddie; grandchildren, Jessica Emory, Marcus Emory, Alyson Beacham, Matthew Wilson, Brandon Wilson, and Ricky Dale Wilson; a great grandson, Lukas Price and a sister, Shirley B. Wright of Colonial Heights; numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 5, 2008 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard with the Rev. Edward Bellis officiating. Interment Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 7-8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
