Howard Shackelford

Howard Neal Shackelford, 67, of Prince George passed away on Thursday, February 23, 2023. Born in Hopewell, Virginia on March 20, 1955, he was the son of the late Flossie Adelle and Howard Shackelford, Jr.

Neal was an equipment operator for Chestnut Hill Logging, Lumber and Excavating, where he retired after many years of dedicated service. His passion for arguing with his siblings and friends was only matched by his love for the peaceful hum of his lawnmower as he mowed the grass on a warm day. Neal was a handyman who had a passion for fixing and restoring old things and spent countless hours refurbishing to give them a new life. He also enjoyed hanging out with his friends and having a good time.

He is survived by his son, Jamie Benedict; brothers, Joseph Shackelford and wife, Lee Ann, Adam Shackelford and wife, Lisa; sisters, Betty Murray and husband, Phillip, Wendy Sharpe; numerous nieces, nephews, other extended family members and many, many friends.

A celebration of life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Neal’s name to a charity of your choice.
