Howard Gerald Procise

Howard “Jerry” Procise, 80, of Chesterfield County passed away July 19th, 2024. Jerry was born in Petersburg, to the late Ruby Parr and Arthur Procise. He is preceded in passing by his wife, Elizabeth Mary Procise; grandson, Devon Procise; and beloved dog, Dixie.

Jerry was a soft spoken and loving man. He always had the best stories to tell and in most of them he was the person you were laughing at while they were being told. He would never shy away from telling a story to his grandchildren, and laughing with them as he told them. He went by many names, but the most used was “Pawpaw” but it started to change into “Pawpaw-patch” in the past few years. Jerry loved music. Creedance Clearwater Revival was one of his favorite bands and he would always have a song in mind if you asked him what he wanted to listen to. He could often be found at the Dixie restaurant in Old Town Petersburg, having Dixie Dogs, and talking to his many friends there. When you were with Jerry, you knew you could guarantee that you were going to smile and laugh.

He is survived by his son, Warren Procise; daughters, Theresa Porter (Scott), Sherry Marshall (Heath), and Kelly Medeiros (Chuck); grandchildren, Tiffani Procise (Rodney), Michael Ferguson (Ashley), Joshua Procise (Jessica), Ryan Belcher (Tabitha), Ryan Porter (Tenzing), Jessica Derby (Blake), Chasidy Procise, Tyler Medeiros, and Marissa Medeiros; brothers-in-law, Glenn Atkins (Melissa), Donnie Atkins (Amy), and Robert Bradley; numerous great-grandchildren; and beloved cat, Gracie.

A funeral service will be held on July 31, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834. Family will accept friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on the day of the service.
