Howard Whitlock

Howard R. "Corky" Whitlock 83, of Colonial Heights, passed away Saturday November 20, 2010. He was the son of the late Thomas Howard and Lillian Roberts Whitlock. Mr. Whitlock was preceded in death by his wife Ann Ayers Whitlock a step-daughter Cynthia Vinson Wheeler and a step-son Robert E. Vinson Jr. He was a United States Navy Veteran serving during W.W. II., and the Korean Conflict. Mr. Whitlock retired from DuPont Fibers. He was a lifetime member of Colonial Heights Baptist Church, a charter member of the Colonial Heights Moose Lodge #1783 and the Colonial Heights American Legion Post 284. He is survived by his daughter Wendy Whitlock Stevens and husband Mark of Petersburg, daughter in-law Betty Vinson of Petersburg, son in-law Curtis Wheeler of Dinwiddie, grandson Robert E. Vinson III., of Petersburg, cousins and many friends . A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday November 24, 2010 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory 2033 Boulevard, 23834 with the Reverend Alex Roberts and Reverend Mike Osborne officiating. Interment Sunset Memorial Park, Chester, Virginia, with Military Honors. The family will receive friends Tuesday November 23, 2010 from 7-8:30 p.m. at the funeral Home.
