Howerton Hardy, 94, of Colonial Heights, passed away on Sunday, May 9, 2010 at Southside Regional Medical Center. He was the son of the late Robert L. and Lula Mabry Hardy, was widowed by three wives, Dorothy Hardy, Evelyn Hardy, and Mildred C. Hardy, and was preceded in death by two sons, Rocky Mosconi and Bobby Hardy, a brother, Robert Arthur Hardy, and a sister, Jane Bullis. Mr. Hardy was a member of the Colonial Heights Baptist Church, a former member of the Colonial Heights American Legion Post 284, and was an avid New York Yankee Fan. He was a retired United States Navy Machinist's Mate Chief Petty Officer. He retired from the Richmond Petersburg Turnpike Personnel Department. He is survived by his children, Eddie Hardy (Denise) of Church Road, Charlotte Dimirack (George) of Colonial Heights, Billy Hardy (Bonnie) of Prince George, Jean Kosar (Jerry) of Glen Burnie, Maryland, and Frank Childress Jr. of Chesterfield; fifteen grandchildren, Sarah Price (Doug), Mason Hardy, Donnie Hardy (Sheila), Sean Hardy, Buddy Dimirack (Mary), Lynn Adenauer, Frank Childress III (Tracy), Troy Hardy, Johnny Hardy, Christina Tucker (Kevin), Vince Mosconi, Christian Mosconi, Raymond Kosar (Crystal), Jacqueline Heiser (Kevin), and Jodie Grant (Brian); numerous great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 14, 2010 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard with the Reverend David Prather officiating. Interment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
