Ianthy Ferguson, 74, of Chesterfield, passed away on Thursday, August 21, 2014 at Johnston-Willis Medical Center. Born in Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Milton and Martha Pearl Williamson Stanford, and was preceded in death by a brother, James Milton Stanford. Ianthy was a member of Oaklawn Baptist Church in Chesterfield, a charter member of Phillips Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary, a former Treasurer of Phillips Volunteer Fire Department Inc., and a former YMCA Indian Princess Chief known as "Big Flame." She is survived by her husband, of 55 ½ years, Cliff Ferguson; her son, Mike Ferguson and wife, Jacqueline of S. Chesterfield; her daughter, Tammy Faulkner and husband, J.A. of Mathews County; a grandson, Michael Brandon; and a brother, Philip Preston Stanford. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 30, 2014 at Oaklawn Baptist Church, 7925 Hickory Road, S. Chesterfield, Virginia 23803 with the Reverend Wayne Williams officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Oaklawn Baptist Church Roofing Fund. Arrangements by the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard.
