Ida Ealine Hurlbut of Prince George County, Virginia passed away on Saturday, July 6, 2024, following an extended illness. She was born October 6, 1947, in Dillon, Montana to Andrew Arrigoni and Dorothy Rabb Arrigoni and raised in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Ida was preceded by her parents. She was also preceded by two sisters, Mary Tradel, and Judith Nall; and her brother John, all of Colorado Springs. She is survived by a brother, Clint Reed of Bon Carbo, Colorado.
She is also survived by her husband of nearly 30 years, Charles F. Hurlbut of Prince George, Virginia; two daughters, Doctor Syndie Beeler, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, and Cassandra Weldon of Sebastopol, California; four grandchildren, Abigail, and Aiden Anderson of Chattanooga, Tennessee, and Justin and Mike Weldon of Sebastopol, California.
Ida devoted 30 years to Federal Service with the Department of the Army, starting as a GS-03 and retiring as a GS-13. Along the way, she earned her college degree from Faulkner University in Montgomery, Alabama and was one of the very few Department of the Army civilians to complete the Command and General Staff College. During her career, she became widely acclaimed as an excellent TO&E designer, a skill that’s critical to the success of our Army.
Ida was a wonderful spouse and always a pleasure to be around. She enjoyed rigorous workouts in the gym and hiking the many trails in the Blue Ridge Mountains. She is greatly missed.
A visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 20, 2024, at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, VA 23834. Condolences may be registered online at ealvinsmall.com.
