Ingrid Comer

Ingrid Westerholm, Comer, of Colonial Heights, died on Thursday July 6, 2017. She was born October 17, 1940 in Washington D.C. to Paul and Lois Howard Westerholm. After graduating from Hopewell High School, she attended James Madison University. She retired from Kenner Army Hospital, Ft Lee. Ingrid and her husband were avid and accomplished ballroom dancers, and enjoyed social dancing. However, she derived even greater pleasure and satisfaction by encouraging and helping others to become dancers, and through performances with her husband for the enjoyment of residents of retirement and nursing care facilities. Mrs. Comer is survived by her husband Carlyle; daughter, Lisa Shumate and spouse Sheri Smith; son, Gregory Hudson and wife Carol; step sons, Philip Comer and wife, Pamela, Mark Comer; step son-in-law, Philip McDaniel; two grandchildren and five step grandchildren. She was preceded in death by brother, Paul Lowry Westerholm and his wife, Doris and step-daughter, Debra McDaniel. A graveside funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 11, 2017 in Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg, VA. with the Reverend David Prather officiating. In Lieu of Flowers, the family requests that contributions may be made to the Charity of your Choice. Arrangements are being provide by the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Home & Crematory.
