Irene Johnson

Irene T. Johnson, 89, of Petersburg, passed away on Friday, March 19, 2010 at Southside Regional Medical Center. She was the daughter of the late James E. and Theda Hudson Thornton, and the widow of Melvin J. Johnson. Mrs. Johnson is survived by a son, James M. Johnson and wife, Patricia of Sutherland, two step-daughters, Marjorie Ruiz of Richmond, and Virginia Lee Jones of Arkansas; a sister, Inez Allen of Four Oaks, North Carolina; two granddaughters, Allison Conyers and husband, Brian of Vermont, and Holly Johnson of Dinwiddie; a great-grandson, Nathanael Powell Conyers, and a great-granddaughter, Kathryn Harding Conyers. A graveside service will be held 3:00 p.m. Monday, March 22, 2010 in East Matoaca Cemetery, Memorial Avenue, Matoaca, Virginia 23803 with Mr. John Nobles officiating. The family will receive friends from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard.
