Irene Martin

Irene Murphy Martin, 77, of Colonial Heights, passed away on Monday, May 9, 2011 at Southside Regional Medical Center. Born in Mississippi, she was the daughter of the late Elbert Freeman and Ila Redd Murphy. She was a member of the Chester Baptist Church, Mississippi, the Colonial Heights Senior Citizens Club, and the Colonial Heights American Legion Post #284 Auxiliary. Mrs. Martin is survived by her husband, USAF MAJ (Ret) Edward Ronald Martin; her children, Gary A. Martin and wife, Becky Vaughan Martin of Colonial Heights, David B. Martin of Colonial Heights, Teresa M. Bishop of Colonial Heights, Bruce Martin and wife, Robin Peat Martin of Chesterfield; grandchildren, Christopher Alan Martin, Jason Ray Martin, Dr. Steven E. Bishop, Tiffany Lynn Martin, Joshua Bruce Martin, and Cade McHale Martin; two great-grandchildren, Charles "Charlie" Raymond Martin and Elizabeth "Ellie" Jane Bishop. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 12, 2011 in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George with the Reverend Curtis Barnes officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard.
