Iris Sheffield Coleman, 96, a lifelong resident of Colonial Heights, passed away Friday, January 12, 2024 at the Dunlop House in Colonial Heights. She was born December 17, 1927, to the late Louis Carlton and Hazel Johnson Sheffield and was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard C. Stell Sr., son, Leonard C. Stell Jr., a beloved daughter in-law, Judy Davis Stell, three brothers, Louis O. Sheffield, Robert E. Sheffield, and Charles C. Sheffield, three sisters, Carol S. Sober, Russell S. Smelley, and Betty S. Smith. She was a long-time member of Ivey Memorial Methodist Church and was a long-time donor and supporter of the American Red Cross Blood Drives. She is survived by her son, David C. Stell (Kathy) of N. Dinwiddie, daughter, Judy S. Kettells (Steve), of Florida, eight grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 20, 2024 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory 2033 Boulevard Colonial Heights, Virginia with the Reverend Thomas E. Herndon officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Saturday, at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 22, 2024 at Sunset Memorial Park 2901 W. Hundred Road Chester, Virginia 23831. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Ivey Memorial Methodist Church 17120 Jefferson Davis Highway S. Chesterfield, Virginia 23834. Condolences may be registered at www.ealvinsmall.com.
