Ivra Chestnut

Ivra Chestnut, 89, of Colonial Heights passed away on Wednesday, April 10, 2019 at her home. Born November 3, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Hobart Higginbotham and Emma Massey Belcher, and was also preceded in death by her husband, Kenton Tremble Chestnut, Jr.; and five siblings, Ona Bishop, Hobart Higginbotham, Jr., Bryce Higginbotham, Mildred Adkins, and Darrell Higginbotham. Ivra was a longtime member of both Cawson Street Church of Christ, and more recently, Cameron Avenue Church of Christ. She is survived by her son, Roddy Chestnut and wife, Harriet; daughter, Lee Ann Saunders; five grandchildren, Bethany Mattingly and husband, Vince, Reade Saunders, Zachary Chestnut, Jonathan Chestnut, Todd Thongthai; two great-grandchildren, Emma and Ella Mattingly; four sisters, Mary Payne, Sue Shepler, Wanda Bailey, Norma Roach; and numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family members. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, April 15, 2019 at Cameron Avenue Church of Christ, 601 Cameron Avenue, Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834, with Daniel Roberts officiating. Interment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon, April 14, 2019 from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard. Flowers are welcome or memorial contributions may be made to Cameron Avenue Church of Christ.
