Jack C. Farthing, 87, of Colonial Heights passed away Sunday, August 10, 2008 at Colonial Heights Health Care Center. He was the son of the late John James and Edith McCurdy Farthing, and was preceded in death by two sons, Larry and Wade Farthing. Mr. Farthing was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church, a veteran in the US Army having served in WWII, and a retired Press Operator with Reynolds Metals Company. He is survived by his wife, Mary S. Farthing; a daughter-in-law, Rebecca E. Farthing of Colonial Heights; two grandchildren, Shane C. Farthing and wife, Kristin of Washington, D.C., and Shannon C. Farthing of Colonial Heights; nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, August 13, 2008 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard with the Rev. David Prather and the Rev. Fred Adkins officiating. Interment Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday (tonight) at the funeral home.
