Jack Gadsby Sr.

April 20, 1918 — December 22, 2014

Capt. Jack R. Gadsby Sr., USA (Ret.), 96, of Petersburg, passed away on Monday, December 22, 2014 at Southside Regional Medical Center. Born in Memphis, Tennessee he was the son of the late John and Pauline Gadsby, and was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Jackson Gadsby. Mr. Gadsby was retired from the United States Army having served during World War II and the Korean War. He is survived by two sons, Jack R. Gadsby Jr. and George G. Gadsby; three daughters, Brenda Zucchi (Bob), Jackie G. Gentry (Scott) and Joyce Renee Gould (Phillip); two granddaughters, Christina Tomlinson and Traci Solomen; and six great-grandchildren, Sabrina, Erica, Chrissy, and Lucas Solomen, Shane and Brooklyn Tomlinson A Graveside Service, with full military honors, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 29, 2014 at Southlawn Memorial Park, 1911 Birdsong Road, Petersburg, Virginia 23805. The family will receive friends from 3-4:30 p.m. Sunday December 28, 2014 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard.
