Jack Hicks

Jack Brownie Hicks, 82, of Matoaca, VA passed away on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at his residence. Born in Mecklenburg County, VA he was the son of the late Lee Staten and Helen Jones Hicks; and was also preceded in death by two brothers, Bright T. Hicks and Sam L. "Duty" Hicks; and one sister, Maxine Gunnells. Jack was retired from Brown and Williamson Tobacco as a maintenance supervisor and was a longtime member of Swift Creek Baptist Church in Colonial Heights. Mr. Hicks is survived by his loving wife, Evelyn "Sally" Hicks; one son, Darrell K. Hicks and wife, Kathy; two grandsons, Anthony "AJ" Hicks and Joseph Hicks; one sister, Jane Buren; and numerous nieces, nephews and other loving family members. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, March 6, 2017 at Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George, VA with the Reverend Dr. Steve Felker, officiating. The family is being served by the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory.
