93, of Prince George, formerly of Dinwiddie, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, March 6, 2018. He had been residing in Prince George for the last eight years. He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Lois R. Mayes; by his father, P.G. Mayes Sr. and his mother, Pearl A. Mayes. He was also preceded in death by his brother, P.G. Mayes Jr.; his sisters, Eleanor Daughtry and Connie Olsen; his daughter, Jacqueline Suski; his stepdaughter, Ann W. Baines and his stepson, Edward L. Wells Jr. Mr. Mayes graduated from Petersburg High School in 1942. He retired from Reynolds Metals Company/Alcoa Aluminum Company in 1986 after working there for over 30 years. Mr. Mayes is survived by two sons, Jack A. Mayes Jr. and his wife, Betty H. Mayes of Dinwiddie and Steven E. Mayes of Prince George. "Pap Pap" is also survived by seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 10, 2018 in Southlawn Memorial Park, 1911 Birdsong Road, S. Prince George, Virginia 23805 with Pastor Robert Livesay of Oakland Baptist Church of Disputanta officiating. Arrangements by the Crater Road Chapel of E.
