Jackie Hundley

Jackie Ray Hundley, 80 of Colonial Heights, passed away on Thursday January 7, 2016, at Dunlop House Assisted Living. Born January 17, 1935, Jack was the son of the late Monroe and Agnes Hundley of Eden, N.C. and was raised by an uncle and aunt, the late Claude and Ethel Hundley during his teen-age years. A veteran of the U.S. Army, Jack was a member of Highland United Methodist Church after his early years in the Church of the Brethren in Eden, N.C. He was a member of the Colonial Heights Rotary Club (Paul Harris Fellows), the Colonial Heights Industrial Authority, and the state Legislative Committee for AARP. Jack served on the Hospital Authority for Southside Regional Medical Center and on the John Tyler Community College Board. He received his Bachelor's degree in Business from East Carolina College (now University) and his Master of Education from the College of William and Mary. He was a teacher and counselor at Colonial Heights High School before his 28-year career at the U.S. Army Quartermaster School where he served as Deputy Director for six years preceding retirement. Jack is survived by his wife of 53 years, Juanita Jones Hundley, and a sister-in-law, Charlotte Callihan (Aaron) of Farmville, NC; two nephews, Daniel Callihan (Colleen) and David Callihan (Tracy); and a great-nephew and nieces, Matthew, Kate, Taylor and Caroline. A funeral service will be held in the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Home, 2033 Boulevard, on Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at 1 p.m. The family will receive friends from 12-1 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Graveside services and interment will be on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at 1 p.m. at the Calvary Cemetery, Calvary United Methodist Church, Littleton, N.C.
