James A. “Joe” Bowles

James A “Joe” Bowles, 81, of Chesterfield, VA passed away on Saturday, January 13, 2024. Born in Virginia on January 7, 1943, he was the son of the late George Edward and Annie Pavey Bowles. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Edward N. Bowles, and George R. Bowles; sister, Elizabeth Ann Bogar; and brother-in-law, Randy C. Clevenger.

Joe worked as a mechanic for 40+ years and retired from Food Lion in 2012 where he was a fork lift driver. He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, and the Goldwing Road Riders Association. James was also an avid camper and found peace in nature. He also loved riding his motorcycle, and loved to travel.

He is survived by his loving wife, Sheila C. Bowles; sister, Virginia Carroll; brother, Jackie L. Bowles; sisters-in-law, Katie Fleming (Al), and Katrina Roberts; as well numerous nieces and nephews he loved like his own children. Joe rescued numerous dogs and cats, two of which remain at home.

 A graveside service will be held on January 27, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Park, 2901 W. Hundred Road, Chester, Virginia 23831, with a reception to follow at Cobblestone Clubhouse, 300 Cobblestone Drive, Hopewell, Virginia 23860.
