James "Jimmy" Cecil Brantley, 85, of Sussex County passed away in the comfort of his home on Friday, December 7, 2018. Born September 18, 1933, he was the son of the late Joseph and Margaret Golnik Brantley and was also preceded in death by his sister, Nancy Brantley Leasure. Jimmy worked for C&P Telephone/ AT&T for 38 years and also worked for Dance's Sporting Goods for almost 20 years. He loved many outdoor activities including fishing, hunting, and golfing. He was a member of the Sussex Hunt Club, Neblett's Mill Hunting and Fishing Club, Colonial Heights Senior Golf Association and Oakland Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Leah Clark Brantley; two children, Lisa Anseeuw and Paul Brantley (Diane); two grandsons; one granddaughter; two great-grandsons; one sister, Jeanette Brantley Wallace; two special friends, Gloria Shaw and ZaZa Shaw; a special "son", Ben; and many other loving family and friends. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at the Crater Road Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Home, 3935 S. Crater Road, Petersburg, Virginia 23805, with Reverend Lee Woodcock officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. Entombment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park, S. Prince George, VA.
