James Dean Jr.

James L. Dean Jr., 81, of Colonial Heights, passed away on Tuesday, February 21, 2012. Born in Petersburg, he was the son of the late James L. Dean Sr. and Virginia Tipton Dean. He was a contractor and steward at the Carpenter Center and the Coliseum. He is survived by his daughter, Patsy Dean; son, James L. "Jimmy" Dean III.; and wife, Wanda; granddaughters, Jennifer Elder and husband, Kenny, and Kristin Wears and husband, Jason; 5 great-grandchildren; adopted daughter, Betty Ann Dean; a step-son, Darrell Nobles and wife, Bernadine; brother, Johnny Dean and Arthur Dean and wife, Barbara; numerous nieces and nephews; and loving companion, Peggy Talley Norman. The family will receive friends Friday February 24, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the home of Patsy Dean. Funeral services will be Private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Crater Community Hospice, 3916 S. Crater Road, Petersburg, Virginia 23805. The Dean family is being served by the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory 2033 Boulevard.
