James Green

James Francis Green, 82, of Petersburg, VA passed away on March 4, 2016 after an extended illness. He was the son of the late James Edward Green and Olivia Green Sell. Jim was a 1952 graduate of Petersburg High School and attended Randolph Macon College where he was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. Jim retired after 27 years as an analytical chemist with Reynolds Metals (Alcoa) and enjoyed traveling around the world. He devoted many hours as a volunteer at the Fort Lee Playhouse and was a former member of the Richmond Men's Chorus. He served many years with the Southside Virginia Emergency Crew and also was a coach for Little League baseball in Petersburg. Jim was a member of West End Baptist Church. Jim is survived by long-time friends, Janet Johnson Dailey of Irmo, SC and Edward Jordan of Petersburg. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 7, 2016 in Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg, VA. Friends are invited to the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Home to pay their respects to Jim on Sunday, March 6, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to, Virginia Zeta (Chapter) Scholarship Fund, C/O Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity, 310 South Boulevard, Richmond, VA 23220.
