James "Jim" Vernon Henderson, Jr., 83, of N. Chesterfield passed away on Wednesday, February 26, 2025. Born December 7, 1941, he was the son of the late Margaret Louise Bell and James Vernon Henderson Sr., and was also preceded in death by his brother, Edwin Henderson; and son, Edward Fimple, Jr. A proud veteran of the United States Navy, Jim served his country with honor before beginning a long and dedicated career with Dominion Energy, where he worked for 30 years before retiring. Jim had a passion for sports and could often be found cheering on his favorite teams. He also enjoyed staying informed and spent many hours watching Fox News. He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Gloria Henderson; daughters, Jana Henderson, Jennifer Merrell and husband, Paul; sons, Calvin Fimple and wife, LuLu, Tony Nicholas and wife, Misty; daughter, Glo Hlywa and husband, Stevie; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; loving sister, Gilda Dark and husband, Perry; numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family members. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 3, 2025 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard. The family will receive friends from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 2, 2025 at the funeral home. Interment will be private in Virginia Veterans Cemetery at Amelia.
