James Phillip Jernigan, 59, passed away in his home on February 8, 2020. He was born in Hopewell, VA. James was a highly skilled carpenter, home builder, and was known for his construction company, Jernigan Construction. He loved the Lord, Jesus Christ, and prayed faithfully. He was the son of the late Edward Austin Jernigan Jr and the late Jean Nedra Wellington. He is survived by his two daughters, Brandi J Riddle and Shannon L Jernigan; two sons, Blake W Clayton and Adam C Clayton; two granddaughters Jillian L Riddle and Jaelyn E Riddle; two brothers, Edward A Jernigan III and Michael W Jernigan; and uncle Joseph K. Jernigan. A memorial service will be held 3:00 p.m. Friday, February 14, 2020 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Home, 2033 Boulevard.
