James Charles McMillen

James “Jim” Charles McMillen, 80, of Disputanta, Virginia, passed away Thursday, November 21, 2024. Born August 27, 1944, in Elizabethtown, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Howard Charles and Ruth Hundley McMillen.  James was a proud U.S. Army veteran. He also spent over 30 years working as a parts salesman for several local John Deere dealerships. In his free time, he loved to go hunting and fishing, and he found great joy in attending his granddaughter’s soft ball games.  He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Diane Washington McMillen; son, Jeff McMillen and wife, Amy; grandchildren, Autumn Brooke McMillen and Sarah Newland and husband, Adam; great granddaughter, Elyse Newland; sister, Barbara Jean Brown; and several nieces and nephews.  A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, November 29, 2024 at the Crater Road Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 3935 S. Crater Rd, Petersburg, VA 23805. Interment will follow at Southlawn Memorial Park, 1911 Birdsong Rd, Petersburg, VA 23805.
