James O. (Joe) Perkinson Jr., 87 of Colonial Heights died April 25, 2008. A native of Dinwiddie, he was the son of the late James O. Sr. and Goldie P Perkinson, and was proceeded in death by a son Richard Warren Perkinson. He was a member of Highland United Methodist Church, an Army veteran of World War II and retired Production Supervisor for Continental Can Co. He is survived by his wife of sixty-four years, Mary Warren Perkinson; two sons Gerald W Perkinson and wife June of Fontana, California, Donald B. Perkinson of Bumpass, VA., six grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and one great- great grandchild, one sister Gertrude P Bristow and husband, John. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 29, 2008 at11:00 a.m. in the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory 2033 Boulevard with Revered Keith Ritchie and Reverend Bill Rawlings officiating, burial will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park Prince George. The family will receive friends on Monday April 28, 2008 from 7:00-8:30p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Highland United Methodist Church Building Fund.
