James Petery

James Leroy Petery, 71, of Henrico, passed away on Friday, June 3, 2016 at the Vibra Hospital in Richmond. Born in Selma, CA he was the son of the late Norman Petery and Alma Barns Thomas; and was also preceded in death by a brother, Ronald Petery. Mr. Petery retired from the United States Army as a SFG with over 22 years of service. He is survived by his loving wife, Gayla Petery; one son, Rick Petery and wife, Stephanie; two granddaughters, Ericka and Baylee Petery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, VA 23834. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at the Virginia Veterans Cemetery at Amelia, 10300 Pridesville Rd., Amelia, VA 23002.
