James Sirry

November 3, 1953 — October 7, 2017

James Robert "Bob' Sirry, 63, passed into Heaven at Southside Regional Medical Center on October 7, 2017. Born to the late Nelda Butler Sirry and James C. Sirry, Bob graduated from Colonial Heights High School with the class of 1972 and was a graduate of Virginia Tech University with a B.A. in Economics. Bob retired from Allied/Honeywell after over 25 years as a lab technician. Bob was a devout Christian who loved God with all of his heart and loved to discuss the Holy Bible. He was never bashful about his faith and even shared about God to doctors, nurses, and everyone else he had come into contact with. Bob had spent several years in devoted attendance at Unity Baptist Church in Prince George, and had been attending the Heights Baptist Church in Colonial Heights, up until his illness. His devotion also extended into his love and support of local food ministries, the Chesterfield Food Bank and the Redemption Outreach Center. Bob was also known for having a grand sense of humor, his joking around often serving as a source of comfort and happiness for those around him; he had also developed a special love for Puff, his neighbor's cat, who brought Bob much comfort despite him always having been a dog person. Bob was passionate about fishing and working in his yard, and when he couldn't make it to church, he would always watch Charles Stanley, his mother Nelda's favorite Preacher. He is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Shelva Dalton Sirry; a nephew, Emmett Burton and his wife, Grace; two sisters-in-law, Pam Davis and her husband, Danny, and Dorothy Lambert and her husband, Ronnie; as well as numerous cousins. The family will receive friends on Saturday October 14, 2017, between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights 23834. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Bob's memory to the Chesterfield Food Bank, 12211 Iron Bridge Rd. Chester, VA 23831. Condolences may be registered at www.ealvinsmall.com.
