James Stancell Sr.

James Gordon Stancell Sr., 79, of Colonial Heights, went to be with the Lord on Monday, December 14, 2015 at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born September 23, 1936 to the late James K. and Nellie Capel Stancell and was preceded in death by a brother Kenneth Stancell. Mr. Stancell was a United States Navy veteran, and retired Service Manager for Crossroads Auto Group. He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church since 1965 where he was a former Trustee, a member of the Finance Committee, the Christian Adventure Class and the Men's Methodist Group. Mr. Stancell is survived by his wife of 58 years Rosalyn M. Stancell, two daughters, Celeste Crowder of Colonial Heights, Pam Reid and husband, Rick of Chesterfield; son, Jimmy Stancell Jr. of Colonial Heights; three grandchildren, Maegan Crowder, Zack Reid, Kelsey Reid; sister, Barbara Williams of North Carolina. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 17, 2015 at Wesley United Methodist Church, 3701 Conduit Road, Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834 with the Reverend L. Raymond McGarr, officiating. Interment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park Prince George, Virginia. The family will receive friends at the church Thursday 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Wesley United Methodist Church.
