James William Vairo, 92, of Matoaca, passed away on Wednesday, May 23, 2018. Born on January 3, 1926, he was the son of the late Louis Anthony and Hessie Mae Purdy Vairo, and was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Brooks Vairo. Mr. Vairo was a member of Matoaca Baptist Church, a retired Supervisor for Brown & Williamson Tobacco Company, and a United States Army veteran having served during World War II. He is survived by a daughter, Nita Moneymaker and husband, Jim of Matoaca; a granddaughter, Stacy Driskill (Grant): two great-grandchildren, Trey and Tiffany Driskill; a brother, Lawrence Vairo of Matoaca; a sister, Charlotte Kelenski of Michigan; and numerous nieces & nephews. A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 30, 2018 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard with the Reverend Donnie Joyner officiating. Burial will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park, S. Prince George, Virginia.
