James Calvin Walker, 89, of Dinwiddie, passed away on Tuesday, September 1, 2009 at Colonial Heights Health Care Center. Born in Osceola, Arkansas, he was the son of the late James Arthur and Dora Kent Walker. Mr. Walker retired from the U.S. Navy in 1960 with 20 years of service. He then worked for Firestone until 1970, and retired from Central State Hospital in 1982. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Irene P. Walker; children, James Walker and wife, Donna of Sutherland, Chris Smith and husband, Carl of Goldbond, Joan W. Lang and companion, Dorian Iwan of Matoaca, Linda Ford and husband, Gordon of Dinwiddie, and Martin Walker and wife, Michelle of Gloucester; eleven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Frank Piotrowski; two brothers and a sister, Harold Walker and wife, Helen, Jack Walker and wife, Betty Jane, and Virginia Harmon and husband, John; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Friday, September 4, 2009 in St. Joseph Catholic Church, 151 W. Washington Street, Petersburg with Fr. Steve Antes, Celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Petersburg. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E.
