James Walton

November 5, 1940 — June 26, 2012

James "Albert" Walton, 71, of Colonial Heights, passed away Tuesday June 26, 2012 at the Medical College of Virginia. He was preceded in death by his father Quincey James Walton. Mr. Walton graduated in 1959 from Brosville High School in Danville and Danville Technical Institute in 1961. He then went on to work for Atomic Energy Commission in Oak Ridge Tennessee from 1961 to 1965, he then moved to Petersburg Virginia in 1965 where he went to work for Brown and Williamson Tobacco Company from 1965 to 1985. In 1986 he went to work for the Virginia Department of Mental Health where he was a Director of Physical Plant Services at the Southside Regional Training Center. He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Colonial Heights where he was very active and always there to lend a helping hand and to show love and support to his church family. Albert enjoyed family times at the beach, surf fishing, bass fishing with his son and son in-law, playing with his grandchildren, and getting together with family and friends. Mr. Walton is survived by his wife of 43 years Sandra Ward Walton, son Jim Walton and girlfriend Beth Mann, daughter Shanna Miles and husband Rodney, two granddaughters, Claudia and Vivian Miles, his 98 year old mother Sarah Barker, brother Reverend Geary Walton and wife JoAnn, sisters Florence Giles and husband Neil, Nancy Carpenter and husband Tim, Darlene Bass and husband Ray, Sarah Welch and husband Steve, and numerous nieces and nephews. A celebration of life service will be held 1:00 P.M. Friday June 29, 2012 at Wesley United Methodist Church 3701 Conduit Road Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834 with the Reverend Dr. Deborah Fair officiating. Interment Bermuda Memorial Park, Enon, Virginia. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at church and also immediately after the interment in the fellowship hall at Wesley United Methodist Church. Funeral arrangements by the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory 2033 Boulevard 23834.
