James Hamner "Jimmy" Wheelhouse, Sr., 88 of Sutherland, VA passed away on Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at Lucy Corr Village in Chesterfield. Born in Amelia, VA he was the son of the late Franklin Thomas, Sr. and Agnes Alma Crostic Wheelhouse; and was also preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters. Jimmy was a 32nd degree Mason and was a member of Chester #94, Petersburg #15 A.F. & A.M., the ACCA Temple and a lifetime member of the Scottish rite. He was a member of Harmony Court #11 order of the Amaranth, and had also served as the Past Patron of the Order of the Eastern Star #121. Jimmy retired from Dominion Power as a foreman with 35 years of service. He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Barbara J. Wheelhouse; one son, James H. Wheelhouse, Jr.; a daughter, Jody Hunt and husband, Paul; four grandchildren, James, Justina, Jessica and Jennifer; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Franklin Thomas Wheelhouse, Jr. and wife, Rose; mother-in-law, Carrie Clark; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 5, 2015 at E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, VA 23834. Interment will be private in Virginia Veterans Cemetery at Amelia. A masonic service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, September 4, 2015 at the funeral home with visitation to follow until 8:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the charity of your choice in memory of Jimmy.
