James Hargrave "Gravy" Williams, 94, of Prince George, passed peacefully Saturday, October 20, 2018. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Emmett and Pearl Gertrude Hall Williams; his wife, Violet Johnson Williams; a son, Jimmy Emmett Williams; five brothers, Jesse Aubrey Williams, Willie Williams, Hugh Williams, Everett Williams and Herbert Lee Williams and sister, Evelyn W. Banks. Gravy is survived by his daughter, Patsy Giaras; three grandchildren, Tracey Hearington (Joe), Jay Williams (Kim) and Kimberly Vines (Robert); sister A.V. Hayes (Clarence); and numerous great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins. Gravy owned Williams Grocery Store, Williams Auto and he also owned a logging company. He served in the United States Army, was a member of the Hopewell Hunt Club and loved spending time at his home in Deltaville on the Chesapeake Bay. He was an avid fisherman and spent many hours on his boat named "Born Free." The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, October 25, 2018 at Southlawn Memorial Park, 1911 Birdsong Road, S. Prince George, Virginia 23805.
