Jane Croom Flexon, 87, of Sebring, Florida, and formerly of Colonial Heights, Virginia died March 3, 2016. Born March 20, 1928 in Hopewell, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Hardy Croom, Jr. and Harriet H. Croom Houghton. She was a banker for 40 years and retired as Vice President of Signet Bank (now Wells Fargo Bank). Before her retirement in December 1990, she had served on the Colonial Heights Chamber of Commerce, the Economic Development Authority of Colonial Heights and the Vestry of St. Michael's Episcopal Church, where she was a member since its formation. She was also a life member of Financial Women International, and the Civitan Club of Richmond, VA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Preston Flexon; son, Charles Henry Flexon, II and sister, Arinton Croom Long. She is survived by her daughter, Verna Flexon, of Sebring, FL; her two grandchildren, Charles Henry Flexon, III of Brooklyn, NY and Sara Jane Flexon Schaaf (Kahl) of Richmond, VA; three great grandchildren, Morgan, Chelsea and Tristan Schaaf; her brother Hardy Croom, III (Maureen) of Naples, FL; her sister Nancy Croom Baldwin (Steve) of Miami, FL; and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30pm, on Thursday, March 10 at the E. Alvin Small Funeral Home, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, VA, 23834. A graveside funeral service conducted by Rev. Tige Newell will be held at 11:00am on Friday, March 11 at Sunset Memorial Park, 2901 West Hundred Road, Chester, VA 23831.
