Janet Battle Dunn

Janet Battle Dunn, 79, of Carson, Virginia, passed away on Friday, December 22, 2023. Born in Ohio on August 25, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Battle and Gertrude Lincolnhoeger Battle. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Patricia Hawks.

Janet owned and operated Chester Beauty Shop for over 15 dedicated years, retiring in the early 90’s. She loved to cook and bake, and enjoyed fishing on the piers in Lake Gaston.

She is survived by her husband, Charles A. Dunn; sons, Joseph Dunn (Karin Dunn), Donald Dunn (Amy Masi-Dunn), and Kevin Dunn; daughter, Stacy Archer (Matt); grandchildren, Shelby Dunn, Harley Dunn, Candice Archer Rhoney, and Crystal Archer Hardin; great-grandchildren, Dennis Rhoney, Jr. and Annabella Hardin; and other extended family members.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 29, 2023, at Oakland Baptist Church, 12601 Prince George Drive, Disputanta, VA 23842. Interment will follow at 1:00 p.m. in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery, Yale, VA. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 28, 2023, at the Crater Road Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes, 3935 S. Crater Road, Petersburg, VA 23805.
