Janet D. Vaughan

Janet D. Vaughan, 86, of Colonial Heights, Virginia, passed away on Tuesday, May 16, 2023. Born in Virginia on February 22, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Dorcie Davis and Irene Nutter. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Janet Darlene Hess; sisters, Corrine and Lila Jean; and a brother, Richard ‘Dick” Davis.

Janet was a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, and retired as an operator with Allied Signal. She was an avid fan of the Denver Broncos and Atlanta Braves, and loved her cat, Shadow.

She is survived by her husband, Douglas L. Vaughan; son, Douglas L. Vaughan, Jr. (Kim Morris); grandchildren, Robert Hess, Jason Hess (Tracey), Carl Hess (Casey Lourinia), and Carlie Vaughan; great-grandchildren, Erika Green, Laura Hess, Jonathan Hess, Jayla Hess, Carl Hess, Noelle Hess, Skye Hess, Jason Hess, Jr., and Addison Hess; great-great-grandchildren, Jaiden Hess, and Kaiser Hess; and several beloved nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00p.m. on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834. Interment will be private.
