Janet Weatherford

Janet Aldridge Weatherford, 81, of Colonial Heights, passed away on Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at the Colonial Heights Healthcare Center. She was the daughter of the late Stanley and Lily Mingea Aldridge, and the widow of Lloyd Claiborne Weatherford. She was a member of the High Street United Methodist Church in Petersburg and cherished her time as a wife, mother and home maker. Mrs. Weatherford loved children, sewing and doing charity work in the community. She is survived by her daughters, Cathy W. Melton and husband, Don, Imelda Slomka and husband, Dr. William Slomka; sons, Gary B. Weatherford, and Clay A. Weatherford; grandsons, Lee Chance, and Jason Chance and wife, Angie; granddaughters, Christine Slomka and Lisa Slomka; and four great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 3, 2015 at E. Alvin Small Funeral Home & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights with the Reverend David Prather officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service from 1- 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation, Attn: Honor and Memorial Gifts P.O.
